Paul Birch
Paul rose brilliantly to many of the challenges posed in Contact's Newsletter #2: specifically he provided a major group of land plants; flying creatures of the same Phylum as Poncedonus; details of the internal anatomy and physiology; the basis for a souped up metabolism; and a rationale for Geoff Landis' extensile muscles and their integration with the skeleton. We hope you find it as breathtaking as we did, however be warned, whilst Paul's applied math is impeccable, perhaps his proposal of avians that can hit Mach 3 on a good day is taking the process of "waving one's hands over an equation" a little too far!
Paul passed away on July 4, 2012. His other accomplishments can be viewed at Orion's Arm.
